The idea…

Schools out!

Fresh from completing their GCSE exams, teenagers Jake & Phoebe unite to try and conquer Wales!

On June 23rd 2023, with their Dads in tow, the intrepid explorers are going to trek up and over the tallest mountain in England/Wales, Mt Snowdon. With the peak scaled, they will then jump on bikes and pedal across the undulating Welsh countryside to the shores of the longest lake in Wales, Llyn Tegid (Bala). Here, they’ll jump in/on paddleboards & kayaks to paddle the length of the lake, finishing before the sun goes down (we hope!).

Phew, we’re exhausted just describing it!

UPDATE: We did it! With the weather against us we completed this epic challenge, raising over £1k – thank you!

Why we’re doing it

Raising for a cause close to our hearts

With the brain having done its bit, it will be time for the ultimate physical challenge. We wanted to push ourselves and raise some money for an amazing cause. We’re looking to raise £1,000 for the incredible Sadie Bristow Foundation – a cause very close to Jake’s heart.

Meet the Explorers

Jake

Jake was a great friend of Sadie Bristow, who tragically died when she was 9 years old. Since then, Jake has been supporting the foundation through their fundraising efforts and helping deliver tennis programmes to local kids too. Jake’s last heroic effort for charity, saw him play tennis for 24 hours non-stop. By his own admission, Jake ‘hates’ walking and cycling and deep water… so this challenge really is going to push him out of his comfort zone! He’ll have his Dad there, though, to push him along 🙂

Phoebe

The tragic loss of Sadie Bristow was a shock to us all. So to raise awareness Phoebe will be participating in this arduous but exhilarating adventure in honour of her and to hopefully make people gain recognition of her charity. We are really looking forward for the challenge that Wales holds for us. As Sadie said, “don’t be afraid to be great” ♥

The Challenge

Our plan is complete the challenge in 12 hours, but certainly within daylight hours!

Peak

Starting early, we’ll scale Mt Snowdon and come down the other side.

Pedal

From Snowdon, we’ll jump on bikes and pedal the 35 miles across the Snowdonia hills to the shore of Lake Bala.

Paddle

On paddleboards or in kayaks, we’ll paddle the length of the longest Lake in Wales

What is the cause?

The Sadie Bristow Foundation

Following Sadie’s tragic death, The Sadie Bristow Foundation has been founded to continue Sadie’s legacy by inspiring children to participate in sports and discover their true talents through our Tennis in Schools Programme. We also aim to improve access to specialist allergy nurses and spread knowledge about allergy awareness.
